Men Who Stare At Scripts

Just watched new Clooney movie "Men Who Stare At Goats" inspired by hippie era U.S. Army project to experiment with "Psychic Warfare". Where soldiers among other things tried to kill animals by staring at them. The movie has great actors like Clooney, Ewan McGregor, Jeff Bridges and Kevin Spacey, who all lift the movie. A movie which lacks in self confidence. It is a wibbly-wobbly type of movie, which don't know really what it is about, and why. Parts of it are just great, and parts of it are just sad or plain boring. My personal opinion is that it is great when it is about the psychic experimenting at the Army base in the 70's, but loses gusto when the contemporary Iraq-scenes are portrayed. Worth watching? Yes, I'd say so, the Psychic Boot Camp scenes with Clooney in a 70's wig and mustache are dead funny.

Brilliant Minimalist-Haterz

Just came across a Wordpress blog called Unhappy Hipsters, which is very funny, and spot on. It deals maybe more with the minimalist trend in interior and house design, than with hipsters. Hipsters seldom have money, since they are the as of yet unemployed generation. So the people here depicted must really be the generation before the hipsters, oftern referred to as the Y-generation. They often possess high payed Internet-marketing jobs, and can afford the style satirized in Unhappy Hipsters (Nevertheless, a brilliantly fun blog!):

The Ipad... it could kill the morning news paper

The Ipad is introduced, to me it's like a cross between my macbook pro and my iphone except you can't make voice calls on it, but it has 10 hours active use battery time (they claim).
My analysis:
It will be great for the elderly.
It will be cool for Starbucks lounging bloggers.
It will be cool for mall rats at malls with free wifi.
It would be nice for me in the couch.
I would love to read morning news on the Ipad instead of my dreary old morning news paper that I cling on to for nostalgic reasons (I don't want peanutbutter or coffee on my Macbook Pro!). Added later: Come to think of it, since it has a touch screen, it will get oily if used while eating breakfast.
Maybe I'll get one some day, if I can get one for a great price, that I can run on my house wifi.
A feeling I have is that the Ipad could be a nail in the coffin for morning news papers.

Beardyman - King of Hipster Comedy

Wow, Beardyman, a truly entertaining entertainer. Seems rooted in UK club culture, fantastic beat boxer, down with house music, very very funny. King of Hipster Comedy, as of now!

Imma show some more ol' Kanye

Kanye again, here with Common, another rapper who is good, but when produced by Kanye, is suddenly brilliant. Here in a live session with Kanye. This track, "They Say" is also on one of Consequence's mixtapes, featuring John Legend + Kanye:

Gone - Another Cons + Kanye track

Imma let u know why people say Kanye is one of the top names in Hip Hop, why it's okay for him to get stoopid, because, actually, the guy is a genious. Listen to this track with Consequence once again, a rap over an old soul classic by Otis Redding:

The "missing" Kanye West tracks from back in the day.

Any Kanye fans out there? Imma talkin bout the real Kanye from a few years ago, when he was good. Producing cool hip hop tracks based on classic soul songs. Now, Kanye has done a lot of colabs, producin rappers, helping them out. There's a bunch of them, that have put out great songs, produced by Kanye, where he has also often featured in guest appearances. Usually these rappers are good on their own, but when working with Kanye, have released amazing tracks. One such rapper I've listened to all this fall and winter, is Consequence. He's probably done around 20 tracks with Kanye, that are either fantastic, or at least, very good. Here's one example of pure hip hop magic, and listen to how the song takes off when Kanye enters:

Remastered CD:s? Tired! Turning 2D Blockbusters into 3D? Wired!

Underwired: The process of converting 2-D films to 3-D, used recently with portions of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince for its Imax release, is becoming increasingly popular as studios look for relatively inexpensive ways to boost revenue. The Times quoted an associate of George Lucas, saying the Star Wars director will spend $10 million to update his 1976 movie into 3-D.

“George cannot leave it alone,” said the unnamed source. “He is salivating at the opportunity to play with it again. This time the Death Star is really going to explode all over the audience and leave them gasping.”

The Girls - Mix Elvis with South Park

Fantastic band, The Girls from San Francisco. They bring out echoes from rock and pop history, add this weird South Park vibe to the singing and you have The Girls. I hear traces of Elvis, The Clash, and Kyle... A bit like The Wavves, but where Wavves is more of a cool concept, The Girls bring some amazingly great songs. http://www.myspace.com/girls
