Sucker Punch = Manga

Spoke with a guy today who told me Sucker Punch is a manga movie. That was the a-ha moment of the month for me. Totally makes sense, explains pretty much everything about that film! I actually gotta see it again now after realising this.

Battle: Stay Awake

Battle: Los Angeles has a great trailer, but that's all you need to see. The rest is some kind of badly disguised US Army recruitment agenda. Extremely boring too. Great to watch in bed if you are having sleep problems. This is a warning, because I've plugged the trailer earlier.

Sucker Punch'd away

Watching Zack Snyder's new 3D FX-fest. Loving the art work in this one, truly a top notch piece of design, creativity and after effects bonanza. It has an extremely surreal feel to it, and is based on the so often used theme of making us spectators wonder if the lead is insane or not. The use of young women as main characters leads to the conclusion that the target audience is basically young men, but the film will draw girls and women as well. A perfect date movie for the cinema going masses, as well as a perfect eye feast for us who love well made FX. I have seen one third so far, can say that so far this is the coolest thing since Avatar. Great selection of songs as well, including Bjork. Not done in 3D, sadly, but can be seen in Imax. If you have the chance to see it in Imax - Take it!

Charlie Sheen's bomb of Torpedo

Charlie bombing is not coming as a surprise, seeing him only makes me think of the Joaquin Phoenix mockumentary "I'm still here", but Charlie's doing it for real. Even the rap song with Snoop Dogg.

Test drive Mitsubishi Miu (electric car)

I want an electric car as soon as possible. I went for a test drive in the just released Mitsubishi Miu yesterday. The car is tiny, but drives really well. It's strange to turn the egnition and see lights go on, but hear no engine, all quiet. I took it out on the freeway and maxed it up to 130 kmh. It feels like any regular car of similar size. I liked it a lot, as a second car for local trips for the kids activities and shopping, it would work great. A few minuses are that I have three kids, one adult sized, and they would not all fit in the back seat, and the fact that my 10 minute drive took 25% of the battery load, be it in sub zero weather. The battery is guaranteed for five years, so one could assume it would be finished after 5.5 years then. The pricetag is of a large quite luxurious asian SUV, which makes it less interesting. I'd say at half the price it would be a great buy. Right now, I'll wait.

Purdy Rad, but where are RATM?

Battle Los Angeles | trailer #2 US (2011)

Rage Against The Machine have an album called Battle Of Los Angeles. I love RATM, and I love this trailer. I wish I could combine them. Anyway, enjoy:

Next Banksy Documentary "How To Sell A Banksy"

Okay, "Exit" was just brilliant. Here's an upcoming documentary on people selling Banksy "scraps" gathered from streets and walls:

That Banksy movie takes it to the bank

Great excellent super cool documentary/mockumentary. My take is that Banksy and Fairey have built up their friend Thierry the filmmaker into a street artist just massively producing quite all right looking pop/street art, and vouching for him. The best art film I've seen in many years, especially since I am a sucker for street art and graffiti.

This photo above from Tomaaz Gudzowaty won 1st place in the general sports division at the 68th annual Pictures Of The Year International competition at the Missouri School of Journalism. I think this is a really great photo.

Californication in peak season

I ain't playin' when I am telling you Californication is having its best season yet. Hank is more out of it than ever, but still having some minor flow with a movie script deal. Anyhow, this season is NOT for people who are offended by sleazy behaviour, foul language and all sorts of degenerated living one could imagine, but still managing to be hilarious and whitty. Top notch! Charles Bukowski would love the show. He'd wanna be in it!

Easy A - Top scoring teen flick

Smart teen movie, great dialogue, super fun parents, teachers and religious teens. A clever little comedy about a serious subject, when kids spread rumours.

The Office Season 7 Ep 13: Brilliant

The Office US is almost always brilliant comedy. Still in the 7th season the show is as edgy and squirmishly embarrassing as initially.

My guess is they have two teams writing scripts, where one team is really evil and quite funny, and the other less evil, and funnier. Both are good! This is since every other episode is really mean spirited.

Unfortunately I could not find anything on Youtube from ep 13, you simply have to find it for yoself.

Spartacus Season 2: Reboot

Just watched the premiere of Spartacus, season 2. Since the lead actor had some health issues, apparently, they had to find another solution. What they did was a reboot, they went "back" in time a few years, where for instance Crixus is a newbie, and another dude is the main gladiator. A kind of 80's metal party dude, all smiles, livin' it to the max. How is the episode? Very violent, of course, and more sex too. They just went for more of everything that made season 1 a smash hit I guess. Watch a trailer of Spartacus, Gods of the Arena:

Whutta Trailer - Green Lantern ON!

I like most of Seth Rogen's stuff, and the FX on this one, and, finally, a superhero movie in 3D!

True grit a true hit

Just watched the Cohen Bro's latest flick. It's a remake of a '69 John Wayne western. Is it any good? Yes it is. Is it featuring a 14 year old girl in the lead? You bet. Is Matt Damon from Brokeback Mountain in it? You bet. Is he gay here? Nope. Is Jeff (The Dude) Bridges in it? Yes. can you hear what he says? Hardly. Is Josh Brolin in it? Yes. Is he as good as in No Country? Small part. Is there gratuitous violence? Yes. Is there lot's of firearms being shot with? You bet? Is there lots of horses? Yes, a flock. Is there baddies with bad teeth? Enough for a dentist's convention. What did I think. It was good, touching, boring, became very thrilling, and had a gritty ending. Would I recommend it. Sure! Is it as good as No Country For Old Men? Not even close. But good.
